FastTouch

How to setup

 

FastTouch has a multi-user interface.
If you install the FastTouch in your system you may share it with other users, who log on to your PC.
Users may customize their individual profiles of TouchBars, Favourite folders list, Drives list, etc, without recurring installation, depending on the configuration of the computer being administered.

NOTE for Windows2000 and WindowsXP users: Users and groups are important in Windows 2000/XP security. Administrator may perform setup first, for users who have an access to the same computer, and then users may customize their individual profiles of FastTouch SE.
Double click the shortcut labeled "User Control panel" (equal to command FastTouch.exe /setup) in order to create or delete individual settings.
Step-by-step Wizard will walk you through the procedure and provide you a creation of user profile and customization of TouchBars.

You may terminate step-by-step Wizard and launch it later.
NOTE : You can not start up the FastTouch without creation of the profile of current logged user!

Tips and tricks!

Read some information about useful options of FastTouch and its components.

HotMenu is a pop-up menu. It allows you to perform a variety of power tasks, such as bringing up frequently used programs, folders and documents, which you can add/remove by yourself, List of all disks in system, Services for maintenance of disks, References to My Documents, Recent user files and documents, Desktop. Just press hotkey to open HotMenu!
Use WIN+H (set by default) or set up your own key combination.

HotMenu includes not only the primary features of FastTouch by default; you can easily add other items to make HotMenu more convenient if you frequently perform actions on files, folders, applications, etc.
You can also Add and Remove Link Buttons to HotMenu.
Open Manager, select a Link button and then click "Add to HotMenu" button. As well you can do it in contextual menu using the right-click.

The keyboard is often faster!
Don't like using the mouse? You can also use combinations of keys on your keyboard.
The simple keyboard shortcuts can get you where you want to go faster than several clicks of a mouse. There is a list of many keyboard shortcuts contained within the help file.

You could get access to any Drive of you system without opening "My Computer" or Windows Explorer if you use HotMenu.
Just call HotMenu (WIN+H), hit "D" and then hit the letter of the desired drive.

You can start the formatting process of your floppy disk just by 3 fast touches with your keyboard!
1) Press WIN+H
2) Press D
3) Choose "Format Floppy disk A:", and vuala!

You can open a system tools item by a few clicks if you set your own specific list of the external disk utilities according to your operating system. Open HotMenu and select External Disk Utilities editor from Drives menu item to make necessary assemble.

You can get a quick access to Desktop, My Documents, Recent user files and documents using FastTouch Favourite List and you can add any item to FastTouch Favourite List directly from the contextual menu in Explorer. Just right-click an item you want to add, then select "Add to Favourites". Also you may do it in Manager.

To get the possibility to see the full path of folders and documents in HotMenu Favourites list check "Display path" box. This option may be useful if you have several items with similar names but with different paths!

If you just move the mouse pointer to the upper right hand corner of your screen the Screen Saver will be activated. Enable quick launch using Mouse Pointer in FastTouch Manager to activate Screen Saver by mouse instead of keyboard.

You can create a new TouchBar using contextual menu of existing TouchBar or contextual menu of Link Buttons. Also you can add new bar in Manager Bar section.
You can create as many TouchBars as you need.
It is recommended to create several bars for different purposes, such as "My Games", "Standard Applications", "Office", "Utilities" for the best serviceability. Use context menu of TouchBar or Manager Bar section to do this. Place shortcuts to TouchBars that you need to access frequently! If you want to delete some TouchBar or remove Link Buttons of this bar, use context menu or Manager section of this TouchBar.

If Flat buttons is set up, the TouchBars and its tool buttons are transparent; background colors and graphics show through them. In addition, when Flat is marked, tool buttons on the TouchBars have pop-up borders that appear only when the mouse is passed over the button. With Flat Buttons your TouchBars look neat!

AutoHide is useful function for TouchBar, which is seldom used.
After you launch any application from this TouchBar the bar will be hidden automatically right after you launch any application from this bar. Use context menu of TouchBar or Manager to set this option. To revert the bar to the original (visible) state, use the context menu of FastTouch Tray Icon or Manager.

You can use context menu of TouchBar to get a range of possibilities to manage and customize the bar and Link Buttons. You can add or remove Link Buttons, rearrange the order of Link Buttons, and even change the icons associated with them.

You can place TouchBars to any desired location on your Desktop. Use your mouse to capture the blue vertical line on the left side of bar and drag bar to where you want it.
Auto-arrangement is also available! This way arranges all your bars on top or at the bottom of screen. Use context menu of TouchBar or Manager Bar section to arrange TouchBars position.

You can enlarge or decrease the size of TouchBars!
Within Manager you can select small or large size of Link Buttons. For high display resolutions (more than 1024x768) it is recommended to set a large size.

You can hide TouchBar from desktop if this bar is rarely used.
Right-click on vertical line on the left side of TouchBar you want to hide and select "Close" from TouchBar context menu or use current bar name section in Manager to change visible state of TouchBar. If you need to retrieve the visibility of hidden TouchBar right-click the FastTouch Tray Icon to pop-up the context menu or do it in Manager.

Any file can easily be added to the FastTouch bars simply by dragging and dropping files from either the File list or Windows Explorer in combination with Ctrl key.

You can hide FastTouch task button to get more space for other applications on Windows Taskbar. However you can activate TouchBars using either system ALT+TAB keys or click on the FastTouch Tray icon.

Quick access to the primary features of FastTouch can be accessed via right clicking on the FastTouch Tray Icon.

If Windows Taskbar hangs and FastTouch Tray icon is disappeared you can set it back with the Autoupdate function in the FastTouch section of Manager.
Useful feature for Windows 9x users!

Double-clicking on the FastTouch Tray Icon toggles the view of the Manager screen.

Right-click the System Tray Icon and you can quickly bring on your closed TouchBar.

Manager helps to set up all options of FastTouch as you wish! You can call Manager from any context menu of FastTouch controls (HotMenu, TouchBars, Link Buttons and Tray icon).
NOTE: If Manager is opened the contextual menu of bars is disabled.

Use contextual menu to open a folder where is an item of Link Button located. To get instant access to this folder, right-click a Link Button located on TouchBar then click "Open Location".

You may add any link button directly from Touch bar to SendTo folder or Startup folder.
Right-click the Link Button then select "Integration".

"Apply to Files" option same as "Apply to Folders" allows you to renew HotMenu Favourites list right from Windows Explorer.
Just select and right-click desired files in Explorer then choose "Add to Favourites" menu item.
You will be able to open this file rapidly using HotMenu.

FastLink is very useful element while you are working with system shortcuts (LNK and URL files).
If you need to find a location of the object (file or folder) to which the shortcut is linked, FastLink will help you to find it right away.
Open contextual menu of the selected shortcut and click "Open Location".
The folder that contains link object will be opened.
To enable this service you have to set the correct options in Manager.
